You already own the name. Point it here.
A lot of businesses do not need us to register anything. The .com has been sitting at a registrar since 2019. The Facebook page already uses it. What they need is the site behind that name to exist. Bizzit Pro is $19 a month for that hosted business plus the custom hostname. Free still publishes on slug.bizzit.io while you wait for DNS. You do not have to dark the old brochure page until the new one answers.
Two ways a name gets on a Bizzit site
Buy: open domain search, type a string, see availability and the first-year price, sign in with Google, pay. We register it and it shows under Account → Domains. Attach it to a published project. That path is for people who do not already have the name.
Connect: you already paid a registrar. In the account, connect the hostname to the business. We give you the CNAME target, which is the tenant host — typically your-slug.bizzit.io. At your registrar, CNAME the apex’s www (and follow their apex instructions; some want an ALIAS/ANAME, some want us to handle it after nameservers). We are not going to pretend every registrar panel looks the same. The record you are aiming at is that Bizzit tenant hostname, not an IP you copy from a forum post in 2014.
What to do this afternoon
- Publish the business on Free if it is not live yet. Confirm https://your-slug.bizzit.io/ loads the right bakery, salon, or crew.
- Upgrade to Pro when you are ready to attach a custom name. Custom domains are a Pro path.
- In the account, connect the hostname you own, or attach one you bought through us.
- At the registrar, create the CNAME (and www). Wait. DNS is not instant. Keep sending the bizzit.io URL until the custom name shows the same site.
- When the custom name works, use that in NAP, QR codes, and ads. Leave the slug up; it can redirect later. Do not delete the project.
Apex versus www
People type millstreetbakery.com without www. Registrars disagree about how to CNAME a bare domain. If your registrar supports ALIAS, ANAME, or flattening, point the apex at the same tenant host we gave you. Always point www as a CNAME. If you only do www, put a redirect from the apex at the registrar. If you only do the apex and www 404s, you will look closed. Test both on a phone off Wi‑Fi after TTL.
Do not mix an old A record aimed at a leftover cPanel box with our CNAME. Remove the stale A when you cut over. Two answers for the same name is how you get “it works at the shop but not at home.”
Email is not the website
MX records are independent. Connecting the site does not move [email protected]. If mail already works, do not touch MX while you CNAME www. Use the mailbox list only as copy for the page, not as a promise we created inboxes. We host the business. We do not become your Google Workspace admin by accident.
HTTPS
Once the hostname is on our side of the tunnel, certificates are our problem. You should not be pasting TXT challenges into a panel as a hobby. If the name is connected and the browser still warns, wait for issuance and check you pointed at the tenant we printed, not a screenshot from another product. Do not buy a separate SSL add-on from the registrar for this.
When you should buy instead of connect
The name you want is still available and you do not want another login. Buy it on Bizzit so renewal and the site live in one account. Use the TLD picker to look at .com versus .shop, then search the real price. We show registrar pricing; we do not invent a $9.99 that is actually $49 at renewal. Read the price on the search row before you pay.
What $19 does not include
The domain’s first year, if you buy through us, is a separate checkout. Pro is the hosted business. Registrar years are registrar years. Parking pages, WHOIS privacy SKUs, and email at the registrar are still theirs. We also do not claim a one-click Google Workspace setup. Connect is DNS for the site.
If you are still on the fence about paying, stay on the slug. The business can be good-looking and honest without a custom name. Upgrade when the bar of the URL matters. Cancel if it does not. The steps after a successful publish are in after you publish.
