Copy and photos
If you will not name the photo, Cipher will guess. Guesses become alt text and cards.
Files arrive as garbage names. Generated sites then caption a wet basement as "cozy vibes." That is your brief's job: this photo is the van, this is SKU black mug, this is the Saturday tray. Accessibility and commerce both improve.
When you upload, say what the file is in the brief in the same sitting. Use those names as alt if they describe the content. Do not stuff cities into alt.
Alt is for the image
A product still gets the SKU. A decorative texture can be empty alt. Trust: accessibility, not legal advice.
How to caption as you go
Do not batch-guess later.
- Upload one still. Write one line: what it is, in nouns.
- Repeat. Do not dump 40 unnamed files.
- Generate. Check every card and alt. If a drain is a croissant, rebuild with names.
- Refuse alt that is a slogan or a stuffed city list.
SEO stuffing in alt
We do not sell rankings. Stuffed alt is spam-shaped and unhelpful for a screen reader.
Chat screenshots
If you ignored that page and uploaded one, captioning will not save it. Delete.
Supplier photos
Caption as the unit you ship, not as their marketing title if that title is not yours to copy. Shops: supplier shapes.
Overnight
Jobs will reuse mislabels. Caption first.
Limits and caveats
Perfect alt on a lying photo is still a lying photo. Caption is not absolution.
If a sentence would require a competitor SKU we have not verified, or a statistic we did not measure, it does not belong here.
