Shops and catalogs
"Ships in two weeks" is a calendar. "Coming soon" is a shrug you charged for.
Preorder is allowed. Silent preorder, taking cart money as if the box were in the back, is not honesty. The brief must include the date or the range and what you do when you miss it.
If you take money before you hold the goods, say when you expect to pack, how you update people, and whether it is refundable. Then run that operation.
When preorder is the right tool
A batch you will make, a restock you have already paid a supplier for, a seasonal item with a known arrival window.
When it is the wrong tool
A dropshipping item with no ETA. A SKU you might maybe source. That is not preorder; that is a wish with a checkout button.
The date
Give a window you can miss by a little without lying ("late September," not "Tuesday" if you do not know the truck). Update the page when the window moves.
How to write it
Put the status on the card, not only in a FAQ.
- Decide if you will take money now or only a deposit.
- Write the pack window in the brief in words you will still sign.
- State refund or wait options if the window slips.
- Generate. Read the card on a phone. If it sounds in-stock, rewrite.
- When the window moves, change the brief and rebuild, do not hope overnight jobs guess.
Deposits versus full charge
A deposit is a different sentence than a full precharge. If checkout will take 100%, the copy cannot say "deposit."
Pro
Pro is $12 a month: unlimited Cipher, a custom domain, overnight jobs from the brief, checkout on your payment account with no Bizzit sales cut, and no badge. Taking a preorder through your account is still you holding the promise.
Limits and caveats
Consumer rules on preorders vary by place. Not legal advice. When in doubt, do not take the money yet.
If a sentence would require a competitor SKU we have not verified, or a statistic we did not measure, it does not belong here.
What to do after you read this
If this page answered the query, open Create with the nouns from your own business, not a slogan. If it did not, you are probably in the wrong cluster: go back to the blog hub or Shops and catalogs. Do not spin a second URL for a synonym. One intent per page is the whole point of this library.
Tools that actually do this job
These are public pages. Use them when the job is this job. They are not a second product you have to buy.
Questions people actually ask
Can Cipher write "ships tomorrow" on a preorder?
Not if you briefed a window. If it does, the brief was muddy. Rebuild.
Is a waitlist a preorder?
No. A waitlist should not charge. If you cannot gate a waitlist, use a form sentence you mean.
Do overnight jobs update ETAs?
They follow the brief. You change the brief.
Should I hide the SKU until I have it?
If you will not take money, hiding is cleaner than a fake cart.
